PechaKucha Night Vancouver
Celebrating creatives in 20 slides x 20 seconds.
PechaKucha is a global series of live events held worldwide where people can meet, inspire and get inspired, based on a format that is fast-paced and fun. Twelve inspiring minds will be giving a unique insight into their latest work and ideas in 20 slides x 20 seconds.
In Vancouver, PechaKucha Night is a fun and informal hour and a half of culture, ideas, creativity, passion and opinions. It’s a place to share your thoughts, gather as a creative community and have a good time.
PechaKucha Vancouver is supported by a team of volunteers. They run PechaKucha Nights only for the inspiration, love, and fun of it. PechaKucha Night is for CONTENT and not profit. We want to create a social event where there are people, conversation, beer, and creative fun.

After that the floor is open to comments, suggestions and the sharing of stories. This is a moving event series with a focus on bringing both familiar and new faces together through the sharing of stories and food. #vancouverchinatown

MEANDER
Meander was commissioned by the City of Richmond Public Art Program to commemorate Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation. These unique modular seating units are designed to activate civic plazas and support the City’s annual major events program.
The design was inspired by the Fraser River and its winding paths that define Lulu Island and the Fraser Delta. The shape and colour evoke the spirit of water and can be used in many different configurations to provide audience seating and informal gathering spaces and seating areas.

NEIGHBOURHOOD BENCH
The new library design takes its inspiration from the neighbourhood vernacular of houses with pitched roofs. We decided to take this notion of community inspiration somewhat literally. Having studied the common house types in the neighbourhood, we propose to transform them into slightly abstracted concrete miniatures. The new, mini neighbourhood of gabled houses playfully interacts with the scale of the library and the large elm tree, all the while providing a seating arrangement that fosters various types of occupation by individuals and groups. We would hope it also brings smiles to people’s faces; there is something elemental about the small, simplified form of a house that brings to mind children’s doodles and dollhouses.
